Leonard's Lines of Latitude

Yesterday we worked on Physiographic Map of Africa.  Students used their Atlas and very specific mapping questions to help them locate physical features on their maps.  Today we began labeling the map and should add map key features before we add color.

Let's save the Skillbuilder questions until tomorrow.  That means you all should work on your brochures. 

Homework:

1.   Finish coloring Physiographic Map of Africa

2.  Complete Country Brochure - use your yellow profile sheets for help.

Yesterday's agenda:  Government/Economics Quiz

Today's agenda:  We discussed the holiday celebration and students were reminded to bring in their $5.00 donations.  Parents will be available tomorrow (Thursday) to collect money, so students don't have to wait until Friday.   

In review our Ch 17 vocabulary terms, students were given the task of completing a vocabulary card...the word was their choice.

Homework:  Complete vocab card...make it neat and colorful.  Remember, if you read about your vocab term in the chapter, you can get lots of information to add to your card. The items needed are:  definition, characteristics, example, and an illustration.

Homework: 

Define the vocabulary terms found in Ch17.  There are a total of 17 terms and they can be found at the beginning of each lesson within the chapter.

7C Holiday Party/Celebration

We are planning our holiday party and are in need of your help.  Students should bring in their $5.00 donation this Wednesday or Thursday.  All funds will be used to purchase food, drink, and desert items for the celebration.

Maverick Miracle Tree & Canned Food Drive

One of McClure's annual community outreach projects is to help families in need particularly during this time of year.  Several students in my homeroom volunteered to bring in items for the student(s) we are sponsoring...here is a list of student volunteer: Michael, Josh, Lauren,  Maddie, Jordan T., Dasia, and Kelsey.  The green tree that students brought home before the Thanksgiving holiday has the requested item and size information.  All information is due this Friday.  Thank you for your generosity towards this worthy cause. 

The canned food drive continues and will end this Friday.  All students, school-wide, are encouraged to donate a single canned good item.

Today we began our M.E. Government notes.  Students were also given the task of completing a thematic map of M.E. Governments and should complete it for homework tonight.

After reading scripts from radio news stories, students worked with group members to explain the situation surrounding the first Persian Gulf War in 1991.  We will continue our discussion tomorrow about how these  stories could have been less biased and more objective.

Welcome Back! It looks like everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving holiday.  We spent some class time sharing the events that happened during our week away from each other.  We also used our Coach workbook to read more background on the Israeli and Arab Conflict.
