The Captain's Log: Friday, October 31, 2008

Today, we did opening #15. Then we turned in our plant and animal cells and reviewed the cell parts and functions with review games.

Homework: None unless you have makeup work.

The Captain's Log: Thursday, October 30, 2008

Today, we did opening #14. Some of you still owe me a makeup test. Then we did the " Who Am I?" Organelle Poems. We also continued to gather data for our egg projects.

Homework: Plant and animal cells are due at the beginning of class.

Requirements for the activity are as follows:

1) Draw the plant and animal cell from pages 68 and 69 of your textbook on the front of the provided piece of big white paper.

2) Label and give the function of each of the parts of the cells. The label and the function must also be on the front with a line drawn to that cell part on your drawing. You must repeat the function even if it is the same on both the plant and animal cell.

3) Color your cell drawings.

Today, we did opening #13. Then students who had not taken the post test and the pretest completed it. Then we took a look at our egg projects and recorded some information down about them on our data table. Then we worked on our plant and animal cell drawings.

Homework: Plant and animal cell drawings are due Friday at the beginning of class.

Requirements for the activity are as follows:

Today, we did opening #10. Then we reviewed and took the Ecology 2 Test.

The Captain's Log: Thursday, October 23, 2008

Today, we did opening #9. Then we created a food web to see if we were ready for the test. Then we broke into two groups ones who new the material and ones who were still shaky about the material. The proficient group played a review game and the others reviewed the food web. We also evaluated our Tic Tac Toe Projects.

Homework: Study for the test and complete the study guide including your two essays. Bring your notecards, your 2 essays, 2-sharpened #2 pencils, a book to read, and 2-pieces of paper to my class for the test.

Today, we did opening #8. Then we checked the notecards for completion. Some partners got to present. Then we broke into groups. Students who had not completed the study guide went to complete their study guides, while the other students were broken into groups of 3 and 4 to play games to study for the test.

Homework: Study for the test and complete your study guide including essays.

Today, we did opening #7. Then we worked on the study guide and had a few more Tic Tac Toe Project Presentations.

Homework: Study guide due tomorrow. I will return your study guide after I check it in class. Ecology 2 Test Friday.

Homework: Work on your study guide it is due in class on Wednesday. The test is this Friday, October 24.
